Randal Hinz
Randal's watercolors are nature's diary. They begin as a pencil drawing and slowly evolve into a chronological diary in pen and ink, completed under a magnifying glass, to eventually be painted in filmy layers of color built up one upon the other until the desired intensity is achieved. This procedure takes many weeks or over a month to complete.
Randal paints flowers with a personality of their own. If they don't speak visually, he won't paint them. Every dried edge or bug bite is there for a reason and adds up to a sum total which makes an honest statement that goes far beyond the perfect bloom. The most beautiful puzzle of nature lies buried in the reason behind her flaws and finding the hidden beauty within.
